Myth#1: “Your nerve is trapped and pinched somewhere in your spine”

This is the most frequent myth that you are told when you have sciatica pain:

Your nerve is trapped and pinched somewhere in your spine

However: such cause is less than 1% of the cases!

This is because when a nerve is pinched or trapped near the spine: the pain remains mainly in the back (not the hips or legs).

To know if a patient is within the 4.90% of injury, this question needs to be asked:

Did you receive a shock on the back? Or were you carrying something very heavy when the pain arose?

Most likely, in 94.20% of cases the answer the question above will be “No“.
